| Role-Play Example from ''19th Century - War between the States''
Here we'd like to give everyone who's interested a short example of how our role-playing does work during one of the official, moderated scenarios. This has been taken from the latest scenario revolving about the theft of weapons and the threat of a rioting mob thus armed and lead by a fanatic.
It has been taken from the middle of the scenario - the first is the MOD done by the Moderator and the following ones are the RP entries of participating members. Of course with most scenarios there are maps and pictures provided so everyone has a clear picture of where everyone is. Enjoy and hopefully you'll soon be RPing with us!

| ============================= MOD ================================
Washington D.C. - Evening/Night - (Day 153, Year 0)
At and near the Washington Docks
Hoping that Miss Hemmings would have a save getaway and bring word of the dangerous situation and the rioters to the US Army Stabs-Captain Lyozov followed his instincts that told him to try taking out the leaders. He didn't want to kill but wound them so they could be detained and questioned by the authorities so the men behind all this could be uncovered as well. He was pretty certain that those men down there couldn't have pulled this off alone. Fanatics like those always seemed to have helpers that provided them with resources and money so they could follow their crazy or narrow minded ideas. So Alexander pulled his unique, engraved Colt Revolver from his holster - a present from the Tsar for this valor during the Crimean War - checked if the chambers were loaded and if every cone on the cylinder was primed. Part of his mind told him that his chances were rather small of giving of aimed shots at this distance and get successful hits - still he felt he had to try. Waiting for a few more minutes to be sure that the young Southern girl had ample of time to get some distance between herself and this place he knelt down, gripped the weapon with two firm hands and aimed it at the mob that had started to move in a northerly direction. The rioters started to shoot in the air and that was the moment the Russian officer had been waiting for - breathing in while crocking the weapon and holding his breath he squeezed the trigger, bringing down the hammer on the first percussion cap that ignited the powder in the loaded chamber beneath it. The deep roar of the .44 Caliber weapon echoed through the empty warehouse - seemingly the loudest noise in the universe to Alexanders ears - and the recoil of the shot kicked the weapon back a bit, despite the firm grip he had been holding it in. It was his luck that the mob was firing repeated shots so his own one wasn't noticed - the first shot missed any target and Alexander readjusted his aim. The second shot fared the same fate as the first and missed any vital target. Taking his time the officer got off another shot and this time he saw that he had luckily hit one of the men down on the square, who got twisted to the side from the impact, stumbling into the men walking beside him and then landed face down on the ground. Those that saw it first thought he was drunk and they joked and teased the man but a few noticed that he seemed genuinely hurt. An argument broke out as some then accused others to have been careless and that they had shot their companion by accident. Contemplating his chances Alexander then gave off the forth shot, once again managing to hit one of the men - but then he noticed a few of them looking up at his approximate position, one pointed and spoke to the others....
Washington D.C. & Encampment of the 1st US Battalion
In the meantime Catherine Hemmings ran to and mounted the horse she had rented and sped off, following the directions Stabs-Captain Lyozov had given her to find the encampment of the 1st US Battalion. Fear and adrenalin made her push the poor animal hard as she raced through the almost empty streets of the town. Soon enough she left the city and it's houses behind her, galloping through the open country, as she finally reached her destination. She told the soldiers on guard duty what had happened, that she needed to see the commander of the 1st US Battalion and immediately she was brought to Major McPherson. 10 Minutes of explaining everything in detail later the Major knew everything and had to make a few decisions.
Washington D.C. - In front of the Republican Party Main Office
President Alvin Sharper's carriage was just about to drive off when a horse sped up the road with a messenger that demanded to be heard as he insisted he had an important message for the President. The security guards checked the rider and, after noticing that he was one of their own, they opened the door of the carriage so he could speak with the head of the state. The conversation was short and the content was disturbing: A riot seemed to have broken out down at the docks and that the situation seemed likely to get out of hand, he also told the President that other messengers had been sent to all other Cabinet Members to warn them as well. The presidential security guards immediately pleaded with the president to leave the city until the situation was resolved out of fear to loose another president.
--------------------- Actions: - Stabs-Captain Alexander Lyozov fires of 4 shots - 2 misses and 2 hit a target - Some of the rioters think they have seen something, pointing to the approximate position Alexander Lyozov is hiding - Miss Catherine Hemmings reaches the encampment of the 1st US Battalion and informs Major McPherson of what has happened - President Alvin Sharper is informed about the riots down at the docks - Messengers have been send to all Cabinet Members warning and informing them about the riots as well - The Presidential Security Guards urge the President to leave the city .

| ============================= Major McPherson's Posting ================================
Just 2 miles to the north from Washington D.C. - Encampment of 1st US Battalion
At first Major Nathaniel McPherson thought that this must be some kind of bad joke, but the fear and seriousness in the eyes of Miss Hemmings told him that what he just had heard was the truth. A mob had gathered and from what he just had been told those guys meant business, them being lead by some crazy fanatic didn't help to ease the mounting feeling of unease in his guts. He called for Corporal Reed to take care of the young Southern girl and hurried out to fetch First Sergeant Adcock at once as he didn't want to waste any time waiting.
He found the First Seargeant already walking briskly towards his own tent, seemingly he had heard the commotion and had been alerted by it. Making a mental note of the man's high sense of duty and good judgment he gave the senior NCO of Company A the following order: "First Seargeant Adcock? Sound the alarm at once - I want every man in Company A and Company B assembled no later than 15 minutes from now, send word to Captain Kipler as well - prepare for light marching order, each man carrying only musket, ammunition and canteen! Hurry!". As the efficient soldier sped away at a run to execute the orders Nathaniel returned to his tent and told his young aid to fetch himself a mount and then take Miss Hemmings back to her father and to make sure that nothing happens to her. He then thanked Catherine for her bravery and that she had informed them about what had happened and about the whereabouts of Stabs-Captain Lyozov. Nate just hoped that the Russian Officer was alright as an angry mob could be as dangerous as a pack of Apache out for a couple of scalps. As Catherine and Corporal Reed had left he gathered his own gear that wasn't more than one of the muskets his men were using, the bayonet and ammunition, then hurried out to see how his men were doing.
-------------------- Actions: - some RP - orders to sound the alarm - orders for Company A and Company B to assemble - orders to get word about this to Captain Kipler as well - each man to carry only his musket, ammunition and canteen - orders Corporal Reed to take care of Miss Hemmings and bring her safely to his father - fetches his own gear and joins his men |

| ============================= Captain Kipler's Posting ================================
Captain Kipler's Tent - Company B - 1st US Battalion
Captain Kipler was sitting at his desk working on his daily orders for the Company. He looked over at the letter that he had just recieved, confirming the arrival of his XO to his new post elsewhere; 1st Lieutenant Lindsay. He was please with the meetings that he had with Major McPherson the previous day and was energized about the upcoming training for his Company. He had been informed of a new officer coming upstream and, unfortunately, also been informed of his XO being transfered to another position in the Union Army. 'I never figured Lieutenant Lindsay would of lasted more than five minutes in the field...I'm glad he'll be getting a more...suitable position' He was anxious to meet his new junior officer and was hoping that he would be a bit more relatable. 1st Lieutenant Lindsay was a great officer, but could not relate to his men and looked at the lives of his men as expendable, as long as his ultimate goal was accomplished. He skimmed over the paper to find the name 1ST LT. ROBERT KIRK printed in bold black ink at the bottom of the page. A strong sounding name, but not particularly southern sounding. He wondered where 1st Lieutenant Kirk might be from....
As soon as Captain Kipler had finished thinking through his new officer and his assignment and orders, his orderly, Corporal Sherley, entered and saluted.
"Captain, there is a newly promoted 1st Lieutenant here to see you, sir" he turned his head towards the flap of the tent. "Send him in" retorted Captain Kipler.
As 1st Lieutenant Kirk walked in the tent, Kipler began to notice his appearance. He was a decent sized person, very good in posture though. He stood proud but not arrogant and made sure to keep himself well kept; not to the point of Lieutenant Lindsay though. He like what he saw; a man who could possibly join him in leading a fine group of soldiers. Kirk saluted him and he returned in promptly as he stood and shook his hand. He had a strong grip and James appreciated that.
"Lieutenant, let me be the first to welcome you to Company B of the first Battalion -- finest Company of the whole Union Army. We are a newly commissioned unit and still have a lot of work to do, but the men are showing a lot of promise and the non commissioned officers are strong leaders. Now I will bypass the pleasantries for right now, I'm sure we will have time to speak over coffee sometime soon, but I am very glad to have you join our Company. Our current XO, 1st Lieutenant Lindsay is a fine man and a good officer, but not the right man for Company B. I am having him transferred to another assignment that will better suit his strengths as an officer. Your promotion straight from Corporal to 1st Lieutenant accompanied with the praises that I find in this here letter lead me to believe that you are the man that should take 1st Lieutenant Lindsay's place as the Company Executive Officer. You will be place in the charge of the First Platoon/Right Wing of the Company." He began to pace back and forth and he always did as he spoke.... "Find 1st Sergeant Beaver, he will outfit you with all of the equipment that you will need...musket, ammunition, tent and such. He can also point you towards 1st Platoon's section of tents where you might consider meeting with Sergeants Culpepper and George. They are your lifelines to the men and will help you get your bearings. I suggest, once you have gotten yourself situated, that you muster your platoon and introduce yourself...."
In the middle of Captain Kipler's sentence, Corporal Brown, a Company A man, ran into the tent and quickly saluted the two men. Although out of breath, he spoke up....
"Sirs, I greatly apologize for the interupption, but I have extremely important orders from Major McPherson." He handed the letter to the Captain, saluted the men again, and left the tent. Captain Kipler held up one finger towards Lieutenant Kirk as if to ask him to hold for a moment and opened the letter from the Major; it was orders to prepare to move out. He read out loud one of the lines in the note....
'Prepare for light marching order, each man carrying only musket, ammunition and canteen..." Kipler looked back up as he finished his sentence.
"Well Lieutenant, looks like we do not have time to speak any more. You are now the Company XO and commander of First Platoon, congratulations. It looks like you will be getting your trial by fire. Find First Sergeant Beaver, have him sound the Company alarm....I need the men mustered and ready to go immediately. You heard the letter; musket, ammunition and canteen only. Have the quartermaster sergeant fetch your musket and ammunition, we can worry about your other belongings upon our return. Inform me as soon as the Company is assembled. I will inspect the men and we will march to meet with the rest of the Battalion.
Captain Kipler stood and saluted 1st Lieutenant Kirk. "Dismissed, Lieutenant"
....as Kirk was leaving the flap of the tent Captain Kipler said one last thing to him
"Lieutenant....this is your time"
-----------------
Actions:
- Some RP - Received the letter concerning his new officer, 1st Lieutenant Robert Kirk - Had Kirk enter his tent and introduced himself - Appointed Kirk the Company XO and commander of First Platoon - Received the order for immediate muster and preperation for march - Ordered Kirk to find First Sergeant Beaver and sound the alarm and inform him when the men were ready

| ============================= 1st Lieutenant Kirk's Posting ================================
Leaving the tent of Captain Kipler -- Company B -- 1st US Battalion….as Kirk was leaving the flap of the tent Captain Kipler said one last thing to him
“Lieutenant….this is your time”Kirk turned quickly and replied, “That is the reason why we serve, Sir.” Leaving the tent Kirk approached the first soldier nearest the tent. “Private, could you point me in the direction of First Sergeant Beaver.” The soldier looked around for a moment and then pointed over to a group of tents, “That is him over there.” “I thank you kindly.” Kirk rapidly proceeded to the tents and approached Sergeant Beaver. “Sergeant, would you have the bugler sound “Assembly” Beaver looked strangely at the soldier standing next to him. He had been with Company B since it mustered in and he did not recognize this new soldier. He could only assume that he was one of the new recruits joining the unit. “Soldier, in case you hadn’t noticed my three stripes outnumber your two. In this army I am the one who is going to be giving you orders.” The day had been very hectic for Kirk and he quickly realized his mistake. He had not had time at all to receive his new uniform and was still dressed in his corporal’s sack coat. “Oh. Sergeant, I am very sorry, I should have introduced myself. It’s a long story and there is not much time, I have not had time to change my uniform, but my name is Robert Kirk, and I have just received my commission as First Lieutenant and Captain Kipler has assigned me the command of the Right Wing. The error was mine.” With an apologetic smile on his face Kirk said, “Now Sergeant if you would have the bugler sound “Assembly” The sergeant returned the smile and moved of to find the bugler. As he moved off Kirk called to Beaver one more time, “And sergeant have the men assemble for light marching with just a musket, ammunition and canteen.” Sergeant Beaver signalled acknowledgement of the order and moved off. Kirk’s thought, “Well, that didn’t go so smoothly. The sergeant seems to be one heck of a fella. It should be a pleasure to work with him in this unit.” The sound of bugle soon broke the silence in the air and suddenly the camp was a beehive of activity with soldiers moving in all directions towards their tents. “A very good sign,” Kirk thought. As the men began to assemble two soldiers approached Kirk, saluted and addressed themselves. “Sergeants Culpepper and George, First and Second Section commanders, sir.” Kirk returned the salute and replied, “It’s a pleasure to meet you both, but unfortunately we do not have the time for conversation. We will have to do that later. Major McPherson has ordered Companies A and B to assemble immediately. From what I have heard there is some trouble in the city and the army has been called in. Go back to your sections and make sure that they just have their muskets, ammunition and canteens and I will be over shortly.” The two sergeants moved off and Kirk had a moment to catch his breath before he addressed the troops.” Kirk still had his Navy revolver and Sharps from the Second Cavalry. There would be no need to bother Sergeant Beaver any further. He had more important duties to carry out at the moment. Making sure that his revolver was loaded he moved toward the assembling line. Loudly and clearly he heard the sergeants command “Form -- RANKS” “Dress -- RIGHT” Kirk moved to the front of the line to address the men thinking he should not make the same mistake as he did with Sergeant Beaver. “Good day men, I have not as of yet had time to change my uniform but I am First Lieutenant Robert Kirk your new Platoon commander. Lieutenant Lindsay has be reassigned. Now that that that is out of the way let us get down to business. Make sure you only have your musket, ammunition and canteen. Those soldiers who do not, return to your tents and retrieve them immediately and assemble back here. Any soldier with any other accouterments or personal belongings, hand them to the corporals and they will leave them here at camp and you may retrieve them later. With the line reassembled Kirk called over Sergeant Culpepper and told him to report to Captain Kipler’s tent and inform him that First Platoon, Company B has assembled and awaiting orders. While awaiting the arrival of Captain Kipler he ordered the sergeants to examine the men's muskets to make sure they were clean and servicable. ----------------------------------------------------------- Actions

| ============================= President Sharper's Posting ================================
Washington D.C. - Various LocationsThe black carriage used by the president of the United States, with two doors at each side and two seats that allowed four people on each, was parked in front of the Republican Party principal office waiting till Alvin Sharper were inside the building. Alvin emerged from the door surrounded by followers trying to shake her hand and Alvin was doing that. When he mounted the carriage the four men that was his security force tried to separate the people, they mounted also inside the carriage, two men at each side of Alvin and the other two at the other seat. Just at the moment the carriage driver was to start the journey to Armand's house one man in a horse arrived and asked to talk to the president. Captain Jacob Nester the head of the security helped by 1st Lieutenant Patrik Hebert who was quickly aiming his rifle to the newcomer asked him why he wanted to enter. He identified himself "Sorry, I was in a hurry since this is a message to the President Sharper by the Jude Henderson, the director of the Postmaster General, my name is Andrew Dettinger and here is my credentials and the note signed by the director..., Andrew handed his identification paper and the note signed by sub secretary Henderson to Jacob, after Jacob read both documents he eased the hand of Patrik and nodding to him he let the messenger enter the carriage. 2nd Lieutenant Danny Shankle and 2nd Lieutenant Earl Crawford took their weapons in a ready position as a security disposal, Alvin asked to Andrew Dettinger what is the news and the last handed the note to the President. Alvin took the note and break the seal, he opened the paper and read that a new riot started at the Docks, he frowned because the incident is just two blocks away from Armand and Claire's house and he is eager to go there, then he took a decision, he dismissed the messenger and when he left the carriage and mounted his horse. Alvin thought that maybe if they continue in the presidential cab they will be recognized and that action will put in danger his life and the men that are with him. Captain Nester ordered the driver to travel in direction of the White House, but also advice the president that the best solution is that he have to go out the city. Alvin was thinking about it and while his fingers were rubbing his forehead and at the same time he had closed his eyes at the motion of the carriage while they crossed so quickly the roads of Washington, he sighted but not one of relief, and nodding to the captain he agreed to go out to the City but with one condition, that they must go to the encampment of the First Division of the U.S. Army. Frowning and sighing Captain Nester agreed to the decision of the president, he gave the new orders to the driver and the horse started to go faster. Still the sunlight was bathing the prairie in that summer evening. Alvin took the first impression of the riviera of the Potomac river running near the road. He took out his clock and watched the time and making another sigh he thought about the broken promise to Claire and her husband, his best friend that he met at his university time at London, England; and he prayed that they had to be safe from the riots that fired just two roads near them. Alvin was shocked out of his mind with a question made by Captain Jacob Nester "Sir, I know that the Army Encampment is the most secure section of Washington at this time, but why you selected this place and not the secure outpost of our security force?"; Alvin Sharper that was in his deepest thoughts felt a little annoyed by the circumstances and the little chances he could do at this moment, but he got an idea and grabbed to it "Don't worry Captain, I also wanted to pay a visit to Major McPherson, and this should be a great opportunity as they didn't expect a visit from me... but my real intention is to draw a company of soldier to stifle the rioters as the local police hadn't do anything to stop them."_____________________________________ Actions:- Alvin Sharper's team received the news of a new riot near the Docks.
- Chief of security corps advised to go out the city.
- The president took the decision to go to the Army Encampment.
- The carriage took the direction of the Encampment.
